John Danicic is the artist behind the Stirsby name. John was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1952. He graduated from Kent State University in 1975. He is a former commercial photographer and photo journalist. He lives with his wife, the writer Kim Ode, in Edina, MN. They have two grown children.
I became interested in woodworking while on the job photographing the iconic American furniture maker Wendell Castle. I was amazed how Castle combined different species of wood into such splendid, moving works. I knew I had to play with such combinations, albeit on a smaller scale.
I hope what results is beautiful, useful, and used.
